台語現代文協會(MTLA)及青少年基金會(TYAF)將於一月十二日(星期五)晚上7:30pm於Cabin John Middle School，邀請趙弘雅博士演講。講題是：台語文字化所面臨的挑戰。趙博士也將為大家分析台語音的特色、漢字的困境、台語羅馬字的兩條路線 - 漢字的注音法及台語羅馬文字、台灣人對台語文字化的挑戰。請同鄉們踴躍參加。以下是演講的時間地點及趙博士的簡介：

趙博士簡介:

 

台灣雲林人，嘉中畢業，台大化學系理學士，美國 Polytechnic University高分子化學博士。1974-1992任職Moore Corp資深科技研究員；1992-1999任職Webcraft Technologies Inc技術經理；1999年底退休。曾任紐約洲水牛城台灣同鄉會會長，全美台灣同鄉會秘書長。從1998-2003年，共11屆擔任台灣教師聯盟寒暑假台語現代文訓練營、台北縣，屏東縣暑期台語現代文訓練營教師。2005年春，任職屏東科技大學台語現代文教師。也經常到美國各地台灣同鄉會及台灣人夏令營任台語文講員。

 

趙博士的興趣很廣，包括台語文，台灣民間信仰，天文學。著有現代文書法的介紹錄音教材(1989年出版)、台灣話ABC兩冊(1998年出版，和馮昭卿，吳建勳合著)、現代文之基礎(2005年出版及怪力亂神的民間信仰(2002年出版)。

We are very pleased to announce the next Seminar on December 9, 2006 (Saturday) at 2PM to 4PM. Dr. Bay-Mao Bill Wu has accepted our invitation to give a talk on "The Use of Medications in Geriatric Patients" which will cover all the general and common physical progression and changes, including kidney, liver, nervous system, gastrointestinal system, bones, respiratory system and cardiovascular system. Dr. Wu will also cover the challenges and usage of both over-the-counter and prescription drugs. The seminar will follow with one hour long of Question and Answer session. This topic should be interested from all age groups.
